The Centre d’Excellence d’Eau Vive de Valleyfield is proud to welcome you on its very new Web site. We will aim at communicating to kayakists, parents and friends of our sport all information necessary to the practice of kayaking in a secure environment.
The Centre d’Excellence d’Eau Vive de Valleyfield is a non-profit organization which has for its objective to promote kayaking in the area by offering facilities adapted to the children and adults. The Centre d’Excellence also wishes to be a tourist development tool by means of organizing competitions at the national and international level. It offers several services: courses for children and adults, recreational events, competitions, etc.
This year, we are welcoming the Canadian Championships of wildwater and whitewater slalom. Who would have believed ten years ago that one would have such a competition on the Saint-Charles river!
Seven years ago, a young gym teacher recognized the potential of the Saint-Charles river and decided to work on a project to make this place one of the most beautiful sites of slalom in the country. The river banks and bottom were entirely cleaned up and the river refitted to create waves and currents conducive to paddling. The project was directed by Patrick Gagné, figurehead of kayaking in Quebec.
The Center will enable you to discover this sport safely and at moderate price. You no longer have any reason to hesitate, join us and live the adventure of the great outdoors.
